Talking Fender Chop Party anyone?

Seeing as warmer weather is up ahead, and I've been wanting to do the fender chop mod for a while now, wanted to see if anyone else had planned on doing this and if so, we could all get together somewhere and do it together? Don't have a whole lot of cutting tools either other than a jig saw.

If anyone's available that has already done this, that'd be even great to have some insight. Post up any thoughts you guys/gals might have.

Red did a great write-up on this.

I will try and help but my schedule is very tight. I need to trim yetee's fenders in the next few weeks anyway so maybe we can do it at the same time!

Yetee post up when your available?

I can get all the christmas tree plugs very cheap and you can get the door tim from autozone and you need a bottle of super glue!

Happy st.pats everyone!

Yep, I planned on following Red's lines on the fender trim - I think I like that look the best of all I've seen so far . As far as using the door trim, I might be going a different direction with that since unlike most, I have the Sahara painted fenders. Plan was once I have all the cuts done, I plan on getting fenders covered up with newspaper + painters tape close to the edge of the cut leaving just enough of the edge exposed and then use bed liner spray to get the same effect without having to worry about the door trim coming off because of heat or cold. It'll be a pain in the butt to prep the small surface for the liner spray but I think it might hold up better over time.

So, who else is up? And if we have people from different areas, we'll probably need to figure up a date/time and location to do this at. Any suggestions?

Just looked at everones locations and noticed that Red, OIIIIIO, and I are all fairly local. So maybe we could figure something out like when/where and could just let Red supervise

See you all at the ranch,
Chris

I have a spot near 270 and tesson Ferry and my buddy has air tools and all the stuff we need to cut them! There is room to work on 4 jeeps at once and a field to park about 40 jeeps in if we have other supervisors involved too. I need to put on a leveling kit and an adjustable track bar too, so maybe there are others that need work done too, we can have a little jeep cutting and wrenching party~!

A week night will work for me, we need to start early like 3 or 4pm -- just doing the fenders takes 3-4 hours to get them perfect. I spent 30 min last time just getting my tape lines perfect - thats half the battle!

Depending on the weekend, I might be interested in taking a road trip south to have Red help on this....I really like how his video shows his turning out, but I know my limitations, and well, even with the video I doubt mine would come out nearly as nice if I did it myself

Coming to Tulsa won't be a problem Jack. And it doesn't necessarily have to be done the exact same way as Red did, but I like the end result of Red's fender chop and that's the same look I'd be going for. Only problem is that it'd have to be a weekend like a Sunday or something - not sure how your schedule is. Let me know

270 & Tesson Ferry is still close to St. Louis, ain't it? That'd make it quite a drive from good ole Lawton, Oklahoma [about 600 miles one way or about 10 hours] - definitely wouldn't be able to do that on a week night since I don't get off work till 7pm. May just have to do something locally.
