Default Possible to wheel now around Rapid City / eastern Wy?

During this same week back in '04 we went to Rapid City, over to eastern Wyoming (Devils tower) and then down to Colorado. We only had a Liberty back then so we had to stick to the asphalt, but the wife absolutely loved all the wild life and we've been wondering how the back country wildlife viewing would be.

For the last 3 years we've went to Moab, and we're supposed to be heading there in the morning, but we're getting a wild hair to go back to the western SD / eastern Wy area.

So, is there any places to wheel up there this time of year or is it all snowed in? (I did call the WY forest service and he said to go ahead and go to Moab due to the snow, but figured I'd also here.)

Thanks!

If you ever get the chance to go back to the Black Hills DO IT. Very beautiful country, you can travel some well maintained trails or get crazy on some of the lesser used trails. Check out the Black Hill Challenge, its been covered in several magazines.\
