Default Well I pulled the trigger!

I finally bought a winch!

http://www.quadratec.com/products/92122_1000_07.htm

I need to install this and my Or Fab quick disco's. They said 5 days on shipping so it may be here by the weekend if I am lucky. If it comes by this weekend anyone want to do a little wrenching with me?

I am free saturday or sunday, it says less than 2 hours to install the winch and the disco's should be really quick too. If anyone wants to help I will buy the beer!

Thanks guys,

Red

What is the difference in that winch and this one?

http://www.quadratec.com/products/92122_1002_07.htm

That one is 200 bucks more but has the same hp, same poundage, and the same gears, why the bump in price?

Gratz on the winch, i'll be ordering the same one when the tax man cometh. Did it come with line or should i start shopping for that as well?

Congrats Red!

That is the same brand I just bought, although I got the 10 series with synthetic... It's still sitting in it's box, waiting for me to get this OR-Fab bumper installed.

I can't wait to try it out, I've heard good things about these Smittybilt XRC winches.

ah, thanks for the clarification.

forgive my ignorance but what is the advantage of synthetic line over the steel cable? (assuming its even steel cable)

If you break it it won't whip lash you, plus you can splice it back together. It's also a ton lighter.

If you have a long pull the cable gets kinda heavy and you can't whip it up over stuff (kinda like you would do with a garden hose when something snaggs it).
Thats my 2 cents anyways.

They're all made in China by the same manufacturing plant.
