Hey all, Was just wondering what its like off roading in Oklahoma if anyone knows. I am going to be going to the FAA school in Oklahoma city for a few months to begin my training and didn't know if it would be worth it to take my jeep or not to try and get some wheeling in while im up there.

Hey, Nasty, check out these pic's from Oklahoma. Disney is about a 3-hour drive from the FAA school, which is on the west side of Oklahoma City. I live in Midwest City, which is about 30 minutes away from where you'll be. There's also Little Sahara--I'm thinking about 4 hours to get up there. And there's some stuff out at Lake Stanley Draper, about five minutes from my house (though the local cops can be a bit testy if they think you're tearing up their roads). Here are those teaser pic's:

Here's a photo that Tylerbright put up from Little Sahara (Davebloomer: All of Kodi's wonderful images are missing!!!):

Road around the lake after a typical rainshower (lately they've been closing some of the roads, though):

Man thats looks awesome! Im really excited. My friends that are coming with me were telling me there's nowhere to go out there and it would be pointless for me to bring my jeep. But from the looks of it you know of some spots :P

Also, Is the FAA school in a nice part of town? im gonna be packing up and moving out there so its kinda scary :P was just wondering what to expect.

P Nasty - glad you'll be staying in our fine state, even be it a short while, but your friend is right. There are no good places to really wheel directly in the OKC area. All those pics are from runs that we've made in the state though. There are plenty of good places to go that are a short drive from OKC - just none directly in the area of OKC.

BRING YOUR JEEP!

FAA is on the southwest part of town (near the airport obviously) and its not what I consider a good part of town. If you need any help finding a place to live or opinions on whats good etc feel free to PM me - I'd be happy to help, as I'm sure Mark or any of the other Okies on here would as well.

I lived in NW OKC for the last 7 years and loved it. If I was working at FAA I'd rather live in Moore or Mustang or even Newcastle before I lived in SW OKC. But there are a few parts of SW OKC that are just fine.

So bottom line, have fun moving. I'll be conveniently sick that week so I can't help!

Yup, Oklahoma has a bunch of good places to wheel! I would bring the Jeep if you plan on getting a couple of weekends off. I have a blast at Disney even though it's a 200 mile drive for me.

Sounds great! i cant wait to come out there. Its not 100% yet but im like almost positive ima have to come. I wont be moving permanently just for a very short while, but dont worry i wont have alot to help move anyway hahah im not bringing much. How about transportation to there though. Do you know if its possible to rent like a big flatbed or something to take my jeep out there so i dont have to put a bazillion miles on it? or is driving it just about my only option? Anyway thanks for all the input im really excited now! Ill be sure and contact you about the city once i get more details. Thanks again =D

Don't forget Poteau, OK. But, you better have at least 35's, low gears and lockers. 33's don't cut it. Even with low gears and lockers on both ends....
Ask me how I know
