Default `11 JK Auto with trans leak help?

I have a 2011 JK 4dr with 35" tires and a 3.25 in lift. 3.73gears. Automatic trans.
Noticed a burning smell after a quick trip to the store(1.5miles away) and saw the leak dripping on the exhaust pipe. Seems to be a bad leak.
Any ideas on cause or options?
Will a gasket be a fix?
Will take pics to show!

Sounds like you need a new pan gasket. There is only a handful of places it could leak from. I would crawl under there with a flashlight and see if you can locate the source.

Check the lines. I think ive heard of the hard lines getting leaks, one might hae rubbed on something and formed a hole.

Not worth it do it yourself for a fraction of the price 9 times out of 10 the don't even flush the trans they just drain the fluid. Changing trans fluid isn't much harder than changing oil. Just hope its leaking from the pan!

Why not warranty it?

Flush is a loaded word. Sometimes it means pan-drain and fill, sometimes it means adding fresh fluid as the trans pumps out the old, sometimes it means pushing the fluid out with pressure (bad!).

Black fluid is bad news, I'm guessing you don't have an auxiliary cooler or trans temp gauge.

Ever get the hotoil warning? or feel any odd shifting?

Is there a reason you didn't try the warranty route?
