Default '08 JKU Rear Bumper

This weekend, I trimmed my flares. I also removed the rear bumper to mount my 35" spare without the extension. I was beginning to hear squeaking/rattling. Now the spare rides where it should and I'm not afraid of slamming the gate closed. My better half does not like the look of the frame rails sticking out. Has anyone here done anything to cover this up and add some recovery points? I'm definitely not in the market for a bumper, just looking for some good old fashioned backyard ingenuity.

I don't understand why people think jeeps look good without a bumper, would you remove the bumper on any other vehicle and say hey that's cool.

btw - lowering your spare is not going to save your tailgate

I'm not saying it looks good either....I had to do something to carry my spare without worrying about it too much. I didn't lower it, just moved it closer to the body.....less stress on the tailgate.

EVO I think makes caps for the frame railes so you have a tow point. I agree that a jeep without a bumper is ugly as sin, though some guys I know like it. Just a matter of taste.

Just got my new JCR Offroad bumpers front and back. They were a pain to get the oil out of the steel ( 4 hours of sand blasting ) but wanted to do it right. My buddy owns a body shop so we Sand blaster , primed , and they sprayed on the liner and let them dry over the weekend. Completely love them so far. And the help at JCR was super. Im about 2.5 hours away so I just made a road trip out of it.
