For a 3.8 Auto on 35's, 5.13 is fairly common. Some go 4.88, some like 5.38.

Just remember that gears aren't magic, it doesn't mean instant v-8 power. They bring the rpm's up to a more usable range, that's it. You will still be downshifting on steep hills, just not as much and not as soon.

If you are ok with pulling the front driveshaft and gearing only the rear, go for it. No issues at all with that.

If you decide you want to gear the front, find out what gears you have now. 3.21's, you will need a new carrier for the d30, 3.73 will not.

And for traction, find a few threads on the Detroit Truetrac. Though not sure why you would want to spend the money on that if you don't care about 4wd.

I can shut off the esp button and still no difference.
Are you referring to the OD button, near the shifter?

08 Sahara auto will be 3.73. 3.21 was only available on base model with manual trans.

So Jeff, are you still running a D30 front with 37s? Or did I miss the upgrade?
Back on topic, I re-geared with stock tires, and it was actually enjoyable to drive. I can't imagine 35s on stock gears. Don't fear the gear.

Yes. 5.13 would be the best bet.

5.13 all day long with the 08 auto and 35's
Chips, exhaust, throttle bodies, intakes do almost nothing for increased power. You are just wasting your money running a 91 tune and paying for premium gas.
