This will sound dumb but it's a serious question. I've got an 09JK and I'm wondering if the dashboards are interchangeable with 2012 wranglers? I'm wanting an updated dashboard. Thanks for your time.

You can, but there's a lot of work involved. I've seen it done once.

Karls right - that would be a gigantic undertaking wrought with many obstacles. Better to get rid of the 09 and buy a 12 is probably the most wise choice.
