Question 1.75" Lift Question...

I am going with a 1.75" lift, probably the rough country lift. What are anyones thoughts about just the spacers and not replacing the shocks? You can purchase the spacers with or without the shocks and I just wondered if they are really needed. I am going to go up to 33" tires and just really wanted a little higher look. I don't want to go any higher due to the simplicity of this lift.

It's better to get extensions if you have the gas charged shock, such as with the tow package or a Rubi. The stock x shocks are crap. Or you could just get new shocks. Your gonna bottem your shocks pretty easily without at least extensions.

I have had the 1.75 lift on a stock X for a year now and did not extend or replace the shocks and I've had no problems at all. Now my Jeep is mostly on road and when it does go offroad it's on trails.... no "rock crawling" or "extreme" stuff for me.

I've often wondered if replacing the shocks would provide a better ride, but never really felt the need to. I've gone over some speedbumps fast, and done moderate offroading and don't ever feel that I have bottomed out the shocks.

Just my two cents.

Oh, and I also did 33 inch tires also due to wanting more rugged look and higher ride! I also chose the 1.75 because it gives a good amount of lift with the least possible driveline side effects or problems down the road! So far so good!

I agree with both commits previous. Keep the stock shock but the shock extenders would be a nice addition giving you a little more articulation and you can maintain the stock ride. IMO unless you're spending some decent cash on shocks keep the stockers. The cheep ones aren't worth it. They wear out quickly and usually aren't as good as what you already have.

X2 I ran a Daystar 1.75 for quite some time with stock shocks. Works just fine. If you plan to do Moab though, definitely get some skids with this setup.

Using a daystar 1.75" right now with stock Rubicon shocks... no extensions and rides great. Now, that being said, I had the same lift on an X prior to buying my rubi and the ride was... harsh to say the least.

I would recommend running just the spacers and buy a set of used rubi shocks.

Good luck!
