I live in Colorado and one my 2nd windshield in a year. I had a chip in my new one within 2 months and I hardly drive my JK other than recreation and weekends.
State Farm is one of the few companies with a no deduction glass replacement option. I'd had that for years and it's probably the only way I get my money worth from insurance.

State farm covers rock chip repairs under the standard deductible in many states. They changed that back in 06-07 and for like a year I had state farm people grouching at me for a while because SF wasn't covering the claims.

same with my 2010, like someone said, the windshield is at such an angle that it takes the brunt of any object or debris. Beofre i had mine replaced, it looked like someone sandblasted my windshield

Those "bug shields" are supposed to help direct air flow over the windshield. I wonder if there's independent testing on those to see if they truely work...

I live in the Springs and drive on I25 for about 24 miles daily and my windshield is so pitted with about a half dozen chips. I hear rocks/pebbles bounce off regularly. I am going to replace the glass just before i move to OK in July. Sad part is I bought my rig new last June and the windshield looks like crap already.

They help deflect bugs, but not rocks and sand/gravel.

I don't know about that.

My 2000 TJ, I had the deflector on it from day one and never had a chip.

The 2013 JKUR I just bought has a chip and I've had it a month...no deflector.

Maybe it's a coincidence, but there ya go.
