'12 standard jk questions
I have a buddy wanting bigger tires for his '12 standard jk. Is a procal required to run slightly larger tires? Or it just gears that its required? Thanks!

Key Features:
o Correct speedometer
o "One touch" turn signals
o Clear engine codes
o Easy to use DIP switches
o Recalibrate tire pressure monitor
o Increase engine idle speed
o Optimize ESP performance
The biggest feature is correcting the speedo to match the larger tire size. If he's going with 35+ tires with an auto, probably want to regear down the road.

When you say stock, are you talking about the 16" Steel wheels or the 17" Aluminum Wheel? Is it an automatic or manual trasmission. I just swapped the stock 16" steelies with 225/75-16 tires with a set of the OEM 17" Aluminum wheels and 255/75-17 tires (essentially 31" tires) and my speedometer is now off about 4 mph. I'm doing 44 mop when the speedometer reads 40 mph. But, I have a manual transmission so I can adjust my shift points as needed. The ProCal will correct the speedometer which will also correct the shift points if he has an automatic. I have a ProCal on order, it should arrive on Thursday and I'll be able to correct my speedometer.
I have the procal and I used it to turn off the TPMS and recalibrate my speedo. You really don't need to regear I'm running 35's and the Jeep is doing just fine. The Procal is nice because it makes adjustments quick and easy.
So its not NEEDed on the 2012 model JK's if you go up to a larger tire (maybe 1" taller, no lift.) I remember seeing something the 2012 models needed it when you put on a lift or was it when you install gears?
I had 16" steel wheels with 225 tire when I bought a 2012 Sport. I bought a set of Rubicon BFG MT 255/75-17, and put them on. It runs, and drives just fine. My friend was going to fix the speedo, but I decided not to. I am putting less miles on it on a daily basis. It does have a manual transmission.
