I'm running 15" soft 8's that I ordered from SummitRacing.com with the tires already mounted and balanced. the only problem I had was because balancing weights were on the inside of the rim and THEY rubbed the calipers, not the rims themselves. But, they were also just soft lead so they wore down enough to clear in under 20 miles and no problems since!! If I were to get the external weights mounted to the rim lip, I wouldn't have any problems at all

Why do alot of people go with 15's? Is is the cost factor? Seems like I remember reading somewhere that larger wheels ie. 16,17 18 etc give you less sidewall which is considered stronger for the trails.
I have an 07 Rubi with 17's and will eventually buy new tires and am just curious why people are getting 15's.

I air down to around 12-15 psi rock crawling...with more sidewall I can do that and not run a high risk of blowing a bead....also there is less rim to knock around on the rocks...I'd rather hit tire on the rocks than steel wheels...

...I think it just comes down to preference and budget

Anti-baller look? Maybe I haven't had enough coffee yet. I don't get it.

I have a dumb noob question... coming from sports cars, I didn't know anything about lifts and tires, etc. when I bought my Jeep. Now I am looking to do a lift and I have the Sahara 4dr. with 18" rims. Is it even possible to get 35" or 37" tires that are good for on and off road for that rim. From what I hear, I am going to have to replace the rims which I really dont want to do because I like the way the rims look.

You can easily find 35x12.5R18 and 37x12.5R18...

Many like 15s just for the looks. I am one of them. But I gave up trying to get them when there was a chance, from wheel to wheel, that they wouldn't fit.

Also.......more tire / less rim is better for off road. More tire means more to wrap around and grab rocks and stumps and such.
