15" Wheels????
I may have already posted somethin similar but its been awile since I've been on the forum, but is there any issues with mounting 15" wheels on a JK? Considering getting black steel Pro Comps from 4wd Hardware. Any input would be great, Thanks.
'470, I love that look, tires and all. I've got a '10 sport as well (6spd), and am looking to start out with a basic lift. Have you done any axle work to accommodate 35s? I've been reading that a max of 2" and 33s are recommended for the d30 front, and I was hoping to just do some mudding (open diff, heavy throttle at times). Any input? Are you using 3.73s?
92XJ85, from what I've read on the forum, the only concern with 15" is making sure it clears the calipers. From what '470 says, they might not clear the calipers without some generous spacing.

You'll find lots of discussion and debate about this topic on this forum. It's been addressed by many and there are minor complications some have had with mounting 15" wheels.
I have 15x10 wheels and I love the look plus they allow me to run 35x13.50 tires. My alloy wheels do not directly contact the brake caliper BUT I have had complications with finding a retail facility that can properly balance them due to the minimal amount of space between the wheel edge and brake caliper and the wheel edge and the tie rod end. Normal chain stores would stack the tape-on weights during the balance procedure and soon as the top weight came in contact with the tip of the tie-rod or the back of the brake caliper, I would lose the full set of weights.
I now go to a local shop that services large trucks and commercial vehicles and they seem to be able to get the balance perfect and I don't lose the weights. I asked them to use hammer-on steel or lead weights for the back but the tech came up with the idea to lay the weights side by side which works.
I was determined to mount a 35x13.50 tire and I've always preferred the look of 15" wheels on Jeeps so that's why I chose 15" wheels for my Jeep. However due to the JK's large brakes and the tie rods being larger than on previous Jeeps, I personally do not recommend 15" wheels to other JK owners. If you too prefer the look of 15" wheels and are determined to mount a certain size tire, then by all means join the club. But if it's just cost that's attracting you to 15" wheels, then it's worth saving up to get 16" or preferably 17" wheels to avoid any complications.

Thanks for the input guys. Got much more response than the last time I posted.
CJ7nvrstk: This might be a stupid question but ya think a 15x12.5 tire would be too narrow for the 15x10 rim? Cuz 33x12.5x15 is what I have layin around from my old XJ.
Planman: Where did you get the black center caps and lugs? Are the lugs solid steel?

Well that was an exercise in futility... after waiting almost 30 minutes they told me only 1 tire came in. Kinda odd considering two different employees called last week telling me that the tires were in, but still waiting on the wheels. I sure hope some guy with 4 new Duratracs is happy tonight!
