Default 15" Wheels a good idea?

I want to put 35" tires on my rubi, but 15" tires are so much cheaper than 17" tires?

First off, will 15" wheels work on a 07 rubi?
Second, any pros and cons with going to a 15" over the 17"?
Third, how much back spacing is needed for say a 35x12.50 tire (MTR or KM2)?

Thanks!

In short, NO, its not a good idea. The people that post next will explain why.

I put 15" wheels on my JK and while they fit with no issues, when I went to get my tires mounted and balanced, the guy said he couldn't properly do it because there wasn't enough room on the outside part of the rim to put a weight. There is not enough room between the caliper and the wheel itself. He said to get it perfectly zero, you need to have a weight on the inside part and the outside. That being said, he balanced them pretty well and I don't have any issues, but if I had to do it again I'd probably go 16" just so there's enough room for the weights.

Thats what "stick on" weights are for! I've had em on my SRT10 for 2 years, and it goes slightly faster than my JK!

Some 15s will fit fine where others won't without some grinding. Love my 15s. BTW, balancing is NOT an issue with my set up.

There is also a thread around here with a what fits chart somewhere.

Pros- cheap tires, large selection of tires,

cons- if you ever wat to go to a larger tire the selection starts to get slim. There are 37" - 42" tires out there for 15" wheels but some of them get hard to balance. If you ever want to go to a larger brake kit they will not fi. You need to have at least a 17" wheel.

I am sure there are more pros and cons and with that being said, I have been running 15" wheels and 35"s on my 07 Rubi for a couple of years now and have never had an issue. Now that I have a real lift, I am looking to go to a 38" tire, wich means I have to buy rims again or go with a 37" or stay with a 35". If you know for sure you will not go to a tire larger then 35" I say go with a 15" wheel and enjoy the tire savings and don't look back. If you even think you might consider going bigger then 35" go with a 17".

ive heard people say divide the tire size in half and that is the best rim size. I dont like the 15 personally because it feels too squishy on the road

15s for sure. again- tires are easy to find for them and simple to size up, ex: 37x14.5, not 305/50/18
