Default 15X8 vs 15X10 wheels

Hey all i am going to be upgrading to 35s soon and am looking for some wheel advice. I have already looked at a few threads on 15 inch wheel choices and have narrowed it down to a few different alloys. My question is who is running a 8 inch or a 10 inch width? I was reading one wheel thread and it seemed that a lot of people were running the 8 inch to help hold the bead on at lower pressure. This makes sense but when i was looking at tire manufactures every one for 35X15X12.5 said the min recommended wheel width was 8.5 or 9 inch.

so for those of you who are running this whats up? also photos are also good

I have run 35x15x12.5 on 15x8 MB72s with no problems for over a year. Everything clears and performs great when aired down.

Going with 15x10s you'll lose about a 1/2" of tire height. Aired down 10" wheels have a much bigger chance of popping a bead, clipping a valve stem or getting rock rash.

If you do end up with 8" wheels look for a tire with a service description of 115 or above so you'll have a tire that can cope with the undersized wheel width.

12.50s would sit a bit better on a 15x10

I would agree for a street driven vehicle, but off road there are too many advantages with a narrow wheel.

how do you mean "sit better" what would the difference in driveability be between the 10 inch and 8 inch width? would there be any safety concerns?

Yep! Unless you have beadlocks, I'd get the 8" wide wheels (I have beadlocks and still didnt want 10" wide wheels).

I'm guessing he's referring to the fact that the tire profile would be flatter (the part on the road), and the sidewalks wouldn't be bulging out .
