Default 16 inch tires on 17 inch rims

Title says it. Will 37 x 12.5 x 16.5s fit on a 17 inch rim? The description says 16.5 but the diameter in the sale is 16. Thanks.

No. That is why they make tires to match the rim sizes.

16.5" rims areN'T Hummer wheels... They were the old standard for heavy duty trucks in days gone by. The military is still using them. Back when tires weren't as strong as they are now.. .the 16.5's had higher load ranges due to smaller side walls.

Now... 16.5's aren't great for wheeling because the rims don't typically have the inner lip on them that assist in holding the tire bead on the rim. When you air down.. they blow beads very easily. It was a trade off we made way back when for high load capacity and still having larger & wider floatation tires.

I had 16.5's on my 78 Ford 250.

Don't even try to mount those tires on the wrong rim.

It might work at first until the tire blows off when you on the highway going 75mph.
