I went with the 17X8 just to ensure I do not slip a bead. If I am on rocks and need to go down just a little lower I have some wiggle room.

Thanks for the info once again. I'll be getting 35x12.50 km2s. I'll probably go with 17x9.

If you are going 35 x 10.5 then get the 8s if you are going to 35 x 11.5 then go with the 8s and if you are going 12.5 or wider you may consider the 9s.
x2. I decided to go with 17x9's because I found that "most", not just "some" MFG's seem to say have at least 8.5 or 9 width for tires that are 12.5.

Sooo.....to be safe, I decided that 9's would be more versatile. I wasn't as worried about the beadlock as I was about safety and the MFGs recommendation.

I ran 35 X 12.7" tires on the stock rims all summer (17X7.5, with spacers). The dealer at Firestone just warned me that it may cause the tires to crack around the bead in the long run, so the tires are not garantied for those cracks anymore (specs from Firestone is 8.5-10").

I am getting 17X8... or 9 ? I have the same question... but I think I will set-up for 17X8 for the same rason as above (air down and tire proteting the rim, and stress on the bearing)

I run 17x8s, have had no problems when airing down,, I also like the extra protection I get for the valve stem, the 8" wide rims cause the tire sidewall to help protect the stem from damage...

I've been looking for new wheels to run 35x12.5x17, with 4.5" backspacing. I'd prefer to have a 17x9, but i'm havin a hard time finding something with 4.5" bs. most of them are at 4.75. Any suggestions where to look?

Personally I just bought 17x8 to mount my 35" KM2's on...BTW Planman I like your reasoning...

Coby you might want to look at the XD Hoss, Addict, etc. I know they are 17x9 and pretty sure they are 4.5 bs not 4.75

awesome info guys. I'm looking into some open country m/t 32's as a first step on the new jk. Sound's like 17"x8" is the way to go for the all reasons I assumed, a little verification that I'm not a total moron is always nice.
