17x9 will decrease your chance of irregular tread wear. Goodyears website's minimum recommended rim width is 8.5 inches for that tire. There's a big debate over the importance 1'' makes but I would go with the 17x9 since your buying new rims anyways... I've got 35'' km2's on 17x9 and have been very happy so far.

Backspacing is backspacing regardless of width, but the backspacing you require will depend on the tire size and lift. For the 2.5'' lift with ~35'' tire your gonna want 4.5. I would think 4.53 is close enough. I know people on here have 5 inches of backspacing with 35's and they rub a little. Someone else is gonna have to chime in on that one.

Just as JKJason said, with your lift (I run the same), the determining factor will be the backspace.

For your teraflex kit states "This kit will allow you to run up to a 35” tire (aftermarket wheels with 4.5” backspacing or less are required)", but 4.53 should be within tolerance level.
