18.6 mpg!!?!?
Kept having the ole "gas cap" light on plus a code for my air intake sensor. Been on since I installed air raid intake and gas cap light since I wheeled last weekend. Well read some awesome advice on here bout electrical tapin that vacuum hose by the battery and went ahead n disconnected battery for about 30 min. Well when I got hooked back up n went down the road no more check engine or gas cap light! Awesome! Even better it says I'm pullin 18 mpg now!!! I was at 14-15! Just figured cause big tires+lift+mini van engine= bad mileage.... Well I'm stoked bout this! Thanks for all the info on here! Keep it comin!

Not really a computer glitch. When you reset the average mpg, the beginning of your next drive may actually be better than the previous longer term average because the first few miles may be easier on the gas consumption.
Where I usually fill up and reset, if I turn one way out of the station, the early average may be 15 mpg, and if I turn the other way, the early average may be as high as 22 mpg. After the tankful, it's always the same; around 18.5 mpg around town.
