Default 2.5 inch springs and 35s...for sure fit??

i recently bought a 2008 jk unlimited. all stock. my first jeep in 15 years. i immediately ordered a 4" lift, 15" pro comp wheels and 35/12.50 BFGs. however, i have noticed that my wife and kids have to 'climb' in it as it stands now. i'm concerned that lift may be too much for them. there are a lot of pics and testimonials of 2.5 lift and 35s and i would like to run these tires if possible but don't want to kick myself in the A later. so i guess i'm asking if i get a 2.5 coil lift, will the 35s fit comfortably? (the specs on the lift itself certainly don't indicate that they will work.) i do not plan to do any heavy rooting but would prefer not to rub every time i pull in and out of the driveway either. any input will be greatly appreciated as this is my first jk project.

thanks,

brad

They will fit perfectly. Once you go above 3", you need to do a lot more and spend a lot more to keep the Jeep handling properly.

2.5" will easily clear 35's. Stock height with flat flares and extended bumpstops and u can run 35's.

Default thanks

thanks for the replies. like i said i have seen pics and heard that they would fit. but felt that i should specifically ask for myself. i'm extremely happy because i watched the wallet shrinking with all the additional mods that were needed to do the 4" lift right. steering correction, driveshaft, drag links, etc. and the fact that i'm not planning on burying this rig regularly made it that much more painful to spend that kind of dough! thanks again. i can't wait to get 'finished'...

Worst case 2.5" and flat fenders will work excellent and gives you plenty of clearance and Low Center of Gravity and makes it easy for the kids/wife to enter the vehicle!

2.5" is plenty for 35's. Technically with 4" you could fit 40's with a little work. Keeping at 2.5" will be a lot gentler on your wallet for sure.

Tons of info around here, the stickies are a good place to do some reading.

Post up some pics when your all finished.

Pics always help. Here's mine. 2.5" lift with 35's. I think it looks great, very proportional and not overdone.

i agree. your jeep definitely looks great. i think this is the best all around lift/tire size combo. very sturdy, balanced look! and more functional for family use. i will post pics as soon as this phase is completed. hopefully next week. i will need to order the new lift tomorrow. and return the 4" kit.

thanks again guys!!

Looks good. 35's are really the sweet spot for the JK without going overboard. The axles can handle it and the suspension and steering geometry is not messed up too bad by a 2" lift.
