2.5" Lift w/ 35s: will it fit = of course; Will it PERFORM = ???
Running an AEV 2.5" XT lift with Treadwright 285/70R17 (~33's). Loving the handling on/off road, as well as the extra flex I'm getting over the stock setup.
I'm mulling over the idea of throwing on some 35's, and as the forums are full of "will it fit" / "will it rub" questions, it's obvious that fitment is not an issue, especially seeing that some guys are even getting away with 37's on such a small lift (with some trimming).
What I'd like to know instead is, will it PERFORM. I.E. Would you expect for flex to be impeded in any way by maxing out the tire size for the lift? Is there any reason offroad/crawling performance-wise that I'd want to stick with 33's given only a 2.5" lift?
My thought is that the bumpstops will hit the same (no rub), and that downward travel will technically be greater by 1" due to extra tire diameter. Add that to more rubber on the ground, and you've got overall better performance (plus it'll look cool)

Yes, of course it will perform. Just keep in mind, depending on axle centering, wheel backspace, tire width, you will likely have to trim your fenders. It will rub to the point of tearing fenders from the body, if you don't. My right rear fender was partially torn off just after a few flexes. After I trimmed them, it still rubs a bit on the inner plastics in the rear, and maybe even the stock rear bumper - it is awfully tight.
