Default 2.5 Rock Krawler Advice

Looking to put a 2.5 Rock Krawler Max Travel on my 11 JKUR and run 35s. The question is with using it primarily as a DD and use around the farm and trails do I need to install gussets?

It really just depends how hard you will wheel it. 35's are a heavy tire and can bend the weak danan 30 C's after a bit of use. The gussets are a pretty cheap insurance. If you cant weld them on yourself any shop would do it for $100 or so.

ps- you think you'll go easy on your DD, just as I did. But you will only want to go harder. Build it right the first time cause it only gets more expensive from there on out.

Mark is correct.

I run the same kit, same size tires, 2013 JKUR... I chose to go with just the Artec front LCA skids and Artec inner C Gussets. They all fit fantastic!

Get them welded on at the same time as you get the RK rear trackbar bracket welded in place. It cost me $270 labor (3 hours) plus parts... but, I do think it's worth every penny for the peace of mind!

I've been running that set up(gusset free) since April.

After 6,000 miles and 5 trips to Rausch Creek my c's are intact as far as I can tell. However, if I had the time and money I'd get the gussets for the added insurrance.

You're basically getting them for peace of mind. There are no scientific studies to show that they're absolutely necessary.

Not mine. Hell, my salesman is the one who referred me to a good welder.

He also arranged for a free front-end alignment at the dealership after I installed my RK lift and new shoes, so I think I'm good to go!

That sounds reassuring, and like you had one heck of a good salesman and dealership.

This might be a stupid question but, I thought this kit was 100% bolt on...why the welding of the trackbar bracket?

For added strength. I drove a month without welding and it was fine but ill take all the strength I can get.
