Default 2 dr freedom top on 4dr?

Ok, strange question and your probably asking yourself why? I like the security/storage with the hard top but would like more open top so thought if this combo would work. Obviously could not make a complete hard top but still like this idea. Anyone try this!?

I think I see where you are going with it... I think it would be really cool if Jeep or somebody made the freedom top in 5 pieces... or 4 pieces. 2 for the front, 2 for the middle and then the back!

I also think it would be nice if the hardtop had removable panels over the rear passengers.

Here are three ideas:
  • A 5-piece hardtop. However, enough people are already having leakage problems with the 3-piece...
  • A 3-piece hardtop with removable panels that cover both the front and the rear passengers. They could possibly be hinged so they can fold down the middle for easier storage.
  • A soft-top/hardtop hybrid--a hardtop covering the cargo area with a soft-top over the front and rear seats. The whole assembly would remain entirely removable. You would have the benefits of a hardtop (rear wiper/defroster, no plastic windows, less prone to theft), while adding the functionality and convenience of a soft-top.

I'm on the Chrysler Customer Advisory Board (it's really not that prestigious), and these are the kinds of ideas I'm going to throw around in the upcoming discussion with the Chrysler representatives.

I think it would be great if someone could somehow develop a collapsible hardtop that could be stored in the Jeep.

Is it possible (I know it is) can the front portion of the hard top be the only portion used or will it fly off?

yes, with the "bolts" holding the back part on through the soundbar this is very safe and many of us love to dirve it this way.
