2 inch lift
Hey Guys,
I have an 08 x 2 door and want to put on a 2 inch lift...nothing higher. In searching I see what's needed for a 2.5 and up but nothing specifically for anything less than 2.5 inch.
I've been looking at spacers to obtain the lift and plan on running 285/70/17 bfg on my stock wheels. Are longer shocks needed, steering stabilizer and wheel spacers necessary?
Could someone with experience give me a list of everything needed to make this a safe lift as i'm concerned over "death wobble" after reading a few posts.
My wife is giving me a hard enough time with installing a lift...and if the dw started I would never hear the end of it.
The lift is mainly for looks and very light off road use if that makes any difference.
Thanks,
Ed

I ran a 2" Rubicon Express lift on my 07 2dr with no problems whatsoever. I did not buy anything other than what came with the lift, which was the spacers and shocks. I did have aftermarket wheels with 5" of backspacing. With only 2" of lift you should not have to get anything else. The only exception is that with the axle shift in the rear (to the right) you may have rubbing issues with the sway bar links and stock wheels. Teraflex sells a drop bracket for the rear (came with my coil kit). Some people opt for an adjustable track bar. Some people get the wheel spacers. With the aftermarket wheels I had, it was not an issue. Hope this helps.
The Teraflex BB 2.5 with shocks on a 2007 Sahara 4dr, auto and 4.10's. Installed the drop bracket and new sway links in the rear, moved the rear to the front. Purchased 5 VTec 17X9 with 4.5" BS Offroad wheels with BFG KM2 280/70R17 tires. Used a quality torque wrench on everything, aligned the front end. No problems with ESP, antilock or DW, the speedo is off by 1.5mph and the TF shocks are a bit stiffer but I toned that down by only running 30psi in the tires. Dropped 2mpg and I down shift a bit earlier when going up some of the larger bridges here in the Tidewater. This is my daily driver and she has only been offroad on my property in Western North Carolina. The TF is a quality kit, the directions suck and doing it on the garage floor leaves bruises
The KM2's are outside the stock fenders so this setup may not be legal in all states. She drives great, the KM2's can be heard but are not overwelming and the look is awsome, if you go with anything bigger than 33's in the KM2's you will have to change gears, they are heavy. PM if you have questions.

In case you haven't already come across it, the OME 2" kit will yield way more than 2" if you install the HD kit; especially if you don't have heavy bumpers and a winch. I had some bump-steer with the HD kit before I added some weight, but after a year it's been driving great and no hint of DW.

thanks for the advise guys. For those of you with the spacer lift I've read some post about them not seating properly. Who makes the best spacers?
I've looked at the ome kit but it looks like you get way more than 2 inches.

I"m also considering the OME kit. Dave at Northridge said for a stock unlimited the light/med springs would give 2-2.5" of lift. The only thing keeping me from lifting is I'll be running the stock 255/70/18 tires until they wear out and don't want the Jeep to look stupid.
I'd much rather get a spring lift than spacers but that's just me.
