Default 2007 JK wont start

My girlfriends 2007 JK turns over but it wont start. We smell gas coming from the engine compartment area but there are no visable leaks anywhere. Would anyone have any ideas. Im guessing the fact we smell gas means.the fuel pump is still working. Could the issue be somewhere else?

I hope it's not what happened to my 2014. An exhaust valve spring inside the engine broke. Would crank and crank but not start.

This has been an ongoing issue. She would go to start it and it would just crank. She would shut the key off then it would start. Now it just wont start again. Maybe its the crankshaft sensor?

Are there any codes? That may take you to something like a sensor. You can also check the spark pretty easily to see if you are getting any. Doesn't mean it is at the right time. You can check the compression to make sure it is basically sound. Many times something like this is electronic.
