Default 2011 automatic vs 2012 automatic gearing

I have a 70th anniversary and already contemplating the 2012 for the new drivetrain. The window sticker shows 3.21 gears though for the automatic (5spd) I want to do 35s but not re-gear right away and wondering if the new combo is actually worse gearing than my 3.73 4spd auto 2011?

my rubi has 4.10s. So you can also order them for the others.

it had a trailer hitch (and looking online includes 373 gears) but I couldnt find it on the window sticker. Should have taken a pic of it! My 2011 was in for service at the time.

I see you are in Albuquerque, I will be out there in May to photograph the eclipse. Hoping to find some good trails!

The 2011 auto with 32" tires and 3.73 gears would be virtually identical to a 2012 auto with 35" tires and 3.21 gears. IMO, both would benefit from steeper gears, but given where you live and probably an hour away from 65 or 70mph freeways certainly adequate.

Check the charts in the FAQ to get a better handle on things.

so the 5th gear is the only real numerical change?

I guess what I'm asking here is if anyone knows the new transmission gear ratios in the new 5spd automatic...if there is a steeper 1st gear or a taller 5th than the previous 4spd automatic.

Yep, the whole gear set has changed as well as the power band of the new engine.

Here's the transmission gear breakdown

4RLE

1st 2.84
2nd 1.57
3rd 1.0
4th 0.69

WA580 (2012)

1st 3.59
2nd 2.19
3rd 1.41
4th 1.0
5th 0.83

If it has Max tow is has the 3.73 gears. If it had Trailer tow, it would have had to be added. Either way, it should be on the right side of the window sticker if it has 3.73.

Oh yeah, even if you think the 3.21's will be fine tire size wise, your tow capacity is decreased if you have the 3.21's (for the unlimited).
