Default 2011 JK radiator fan speed question

Hey guys, i have had my hands busy with this project for the last week; I am installing an A/C unit to my wrangler. it is originally from Canada and it didn't come with it. i didn't notice until i drove it off the lot so after i tried and failed to have it returned, after i bitched, and after suing them for false advertisement, (vehicle feature disclosure said it came with AC), they paid me some cash so i could get it installed. I am a cheap bastard, and very curious. also i hate people touching my cars, so i decided to do it myself.

i am basically done, but there's one more thing i have to do. i installed an aux electric fan to work whenever the compressor is on. but since this is a pusher fan, it isn't very efficient and i'm not getting the condensing pressures i want.

now to the question... when you start your AC in your Jeep. does the radiator fan come on LOW? HIGH? does it stay on the whole time? i have to tap into the fan circuit but i'm not sure if i should do the low speed circuit or the high speed or a mix of both.

thanks for the help!

Bump on your behalf. My 2011 JKU that came from Canada doesn't have A/C either, and with the past few weeks of super heat here in New England I've started looking into it which is what brought me here.

Welcome to the club! Lol it's actually not as tough as everyone makes it out to be. Just time consuming. I disassembled the whole dash in 5-7 hours by myself. Just make sure you take your time so you don't break anything. I was aiming at doing this as external to the stock wiring as possible cause I knew the computer was going to throw a fit. If you have any questions let me know

I thought the 3.8s had 3-speed fans? If so, I'd just go with the middle speed and run that. If it's only 2, go with the low speed.

The later models vary the speed based on pressure I believe.

The 3.6 have the different fans I believe. Mine is a single coil fan that is given low and high spends via a voltage divider... I'm just gonna hook up a gauge and study pressures with the different speeds engaged. Then I'll make a decision based in that. Thanks any ways!

The fan in my 2011 does not come on as soon as the aircon does. There are actually 3 settings in the PCM if i remember correctly which relate to fan on coolant temp with air con on for low, medium and high.

I am reasonably sure that those settings will be in your PCM even though it would never see and air con on situation.

I am not sure why you need an additional fan over and above the one the engine came with? Are you installing non stock air con?

I am installing AC to the jeep, it came without it from the factory. And Florida is hot lol the electric fan I put on isn't enough and I want to activate the stock fan

Finally finished installing the ac about a month ago. If anyone ever needs to tackle this project, you may ask me wathever you wish. It is not fun, but it is very rewarding driving down the street with icy cold air now
