2011 tuner
Since the 2011 JK is going to be a 1 year deal I am not holding my breath they will find it economical to come with a chip. My wife drives an 2008 Forester XT Turbo automatic. The tuners love these cars and put out several different chips. However, because the engine set up for 2008 Forester was a one year deal, like the 2011 JK, they never did come out with a chip for the Forester automatic. They do have one for the 2008 with a stick.
I asked the dealership mod guys about it and they said all the SC's they tried recently were a no go so they refuse to sell them for anyone that requests em on a 2011 model. Sucks Griffendor balls
Here's the problem. Chrysler like almost all auto manufactures have switched to the new PCM made by Bosch. This new computer has the ability to record crash data and it seems that auto manufactures are down with it.
As you could assume, they dont want people hacking the factory PCM so i would imagine that Bosch has designed the thing to not be hacked.
So it's not that SC doesn't want to, its that this is a whole new ball of wax compared to the old PCM.
Something to think about for those who have yet to buy a 2011... Like some speculate, chip makers may at some point give up on this year. However, they will have to learn how to crack it so why not keep working on it???

Speaking of Chrysler not wanting their PCM hacked, I started wondering why they don't optimize the tune from the factory. It seems they are leaving performance (and therefore money) on the table by not tweaking their own program. If superchips, diablo, or whatever else really increases horsepower or mileage by changing engine programming, what are you giving up? Reliability, engine life? I understand the parameters like tire size and gear ratio correction, but the tuning stuff I'm not sure about. It would seem that Jeep with their vast R&D resources would optimize it, not some little tuning company. I'd like to get any extra performance I can from the wheezy 3.8L.
I talk to RIPPMODS every couple weeks about it. They have a huge incentive to get it pushed through with DiabloSport because he states that they already have 45 Supercharger systems on order for 2011 and are waiting to ship for when they have a tune...Thats a shitload of cash for them, so they have a huge incentive to get that tune going!
Hold on guys...Jeep modders arent the first that have had to crack the Bosch ECU...I previously had a VW GTI and the Bosch Motronic Engine Management System took FOREVER to crack...but it was done!

Keep in mind, this is not just affecting their sales for jeeps. It is for all chrysler/dodges. My guess is that this change will also affect the 2012s if they use the same ECU. There is alot of motivation for them to get this cracked.
