Hey Folks, New to the JK scene almost... (I ordered a 2012 Rubi unlimited last tue and won't see it till Dec.) but not new to Jeeps. I want to run the Full traction 6 inch Long arm lift, will I need new drive shafts? Just read something about the rubber boots burning off the stock drive shaft and causing problems at full suspension droop due to the exhaust??? Any input would be appreciated. I'll post pics as soon as I Recieve the jeep..

 

Yes, with a 6 inch lift you will need new drive shafts.

 

According to the lifts that Full Traction has installed on the 2012, you can't use a shock longer than 27.5" which equates to about a 2.5" or 3" lift and you must use a smaller diameter aftermarket driveshaft or you won't clear the y-pipe crossover exhaust. That is the information that Full Traction has posted on another forum. I have a 2012 with a 3.5" Rock Krawler X-Factor suspension. I think my shock is 27.5", but my mechanic claims it is 28.5". Whatever the shock length, I have a Coast aftermarket front driveshaft and it only clears the crossover exhaust by about a quarter of an inch or less at full droop. It is close enough at full droop that I'm relocating the crossover just to be safe.

Why do you want to go with a 6" lift? You don't need that much lift for a JK. There are many people on this forum running 40" tires with less lift than that. I can run 37" tires with my 3.5" lift. With some minor body/fender mods, I could run an even larger tire. Aren't you concerned about having a high center of gravity that will increase your rollover chances?
