Default 2012 JKU... Need help! What would be a good lift?

Hello All,

Just joined JK-Forum, after as year of trolling around and reading on here... Picked up my 2012 JKU Rubicon in September and it's time has come to get its lift on.

I live in LA, i can't separate from my Six-Speeds and i drive 2-3k miles a month... So I am looking for a lift that is both somewhat comfortable and still able to do some moderate wheelin... I do take this sucker out sometimes but I do more city driving that anything else, unless you count the mall rocks as a mini trail haha...

Any advice? Any lift to go after? My bugdet for lift is anywhere from $2k to 3k... Also, get some 35's on... Would i need to regear with 35's and 4.10 stock gears? I work direct with Toyo tires so i'm going to pick up a set from them pretty cheap, and looking at Pro-Comp rims...

THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE!

I have 35's on the 4.10's with a 6-speed and it's no problem, plenty of get-up (it's obviously no sportscar) for the 35" tires. I got BDS 3" but that's only because of the crazy good warranty and the guy that put it on would only install BDS. welcome to the forum!

I have the RC 3.5" Lift on mine it was $550 for the kit and $350 to get it installed by a local 4x4 shop. Just bought five 17x8.5 4.5" back space Level 8 trackers for $615. Now I'm looking at 315 70's most tires this size run in the $250 or more area. I did find some Guard Dogs for $162 ea which I'm seriously considering. So if I went that route $950 with shipping for 5 tires and a Pro cal..

$550
$350
$615 So thats $2015 Plus all the other stuff I got for the Jeep Im sitting around $4300
$950
$150
To be honest 3K is not a lot to work with.... I'm trying to budget myself and I'm just under 5K without a tire carrier and rear bumper....

I looked at the 3" BDS for awhile but went with Teraflex 2.5 coils. Unless you really do a lot of offloading I think either of these lifts would be perfect. I have driven a buddys jeep with the BDS lift with the upgrade shocks and really like it. I get a bit better gas mileage so with the amount of mile you drive you might want to consider height. I am running 35" MT tires and still average 16.5mpg with the 3.6L and auto trans, 4:10 gear.
