Default 2012 Passenger side front shock removal??

Hi everybody.

We are planing to put a lift on our 2012 Rubicon. Everything looks doable but I just have one question. How do you remove the top nut of the front passenger side shock?? I can just get my hand in there but there is no way I can get any sockets of any kind in there.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

I used an offset box wrench to get mine off, I have a 2011 but I'm pretty sure its the same thing.

I took a dremel and trimmed a little plastic from in front of the nut you can't even tell I did it but it made the job a lot easier!

Thanks, I will have to look into all of this. It is just so tight in there that I can just get my hand in there. Don't know how I will get leverage to un-do the nut and re-install the new one.

A friend told me that someone told him the take the battery and fuse box out. I don't mind taking the battery out but don't want to mess with the fuse box.

Default Cut the plastic

Trust me and other before me on here, cutting a small "window" in the plastic is the only way to gain access. The plastic is thin so you can use a utility knife to scribe and then pliers to pull away where you cut. Takes a few minutes and will make your install easier. No one will ever know you did it if it is cut square.

I took mine out with an open end wrench but had to cut the plastic above to install the new shock.

Cutting a small tab out with a dremmel is the best way it is about 5/8" high and 1 1/4" long. I used one of those ratchting box end wrench that has a swivel built in ala Harbor freight co. worked very well. Don't even try the battery box gig it's alotta work.

Thanks for all the advice. Just spend a few minutes under the jeep to see what the deal is and yes, cutting the plastic will be the way to go.

I use a box wrench to get it off and back on. Slowly though. Cutting would make it easier
