2012 rear squeak
Hello All,
I'm new to the Forum but I wanted to pass along some info I found out today to my fellow jeepers. I've had a major squeak from the back of my JKU ever since I had a Pro Comp 3" level kit installed (by others) and found out it was coming from the center bolt that held the rear coil spring spacer in. The bolt was too long and was touching the body causing the squeak. Hope this info helps someone else with a similar problem. I'll be doing all the work on it from now on myself.

2012 rear sqeak
Last year about August 2013, I also installed the Pro Comp Leveling Kit # 66150K, to my 2012 2dr Jeep Wrangler Sport with no other mods, other than 33" tires and wheels. After the install of the Kit, I also started to experienced the squeak in the rear, it was like a grinding metal on metal, especially when cornering. I kept looking & listening but I could never identify the source of squeak. I decided to do a search to see if I was the only one having this problem, & thanks to Gman for posting his similar experience and solution. my rear squeak is gone and I can turn my radio down if I wish. I added 3 washers to each bolt for the fix. HAT OFF & THANKS to GMAN

There is a single bolt, in the center, at the top, of each rear spring. This longer bolt was supplied in the kit to replace the original shorter bolt. I was able to take this bolt out without removing anything but the bolt, adding three washers and putting it back in. I jacked the wheels off the ground to release the tension on the spring, giving more room for a socket wrench to work. I am not sure if it is called a "spring retainer bolt" but it is the only bolt at the top center holding the spacer supplied in the kit that is placed above the spring, this spacer is what gives the 3 inch lift in the rear. I hope this helps, and yes I am still enjoying a quiet ride.
