I have the LOD one that came with my Winch bumper. Its super easy to install I did not even have to unhook the lines to move it. The only thing I had to do was cut the old bracket off. It attaches to the crossbar and moves it further back and sideways.

I don't know what other winch plates require, but it really doesn't look like it needs all that work that the kits make you do.
How did this workout? I thought about doing this as well. How did you drill that far one? At the least, that's the way it should have come from the factory.....better yet in the engine bay. What were those engineers thinking

Update- I moved the vacuum pump to the under side of the bracket and my M.O.R.E. front stubby fit. All that you have to do is grind off the factory bolts and drill a hole through where the old stud was. I used a few washers to space the pump down a bit. It's a PITA to get to the inside bumper bolts and it took some finesse to get the fog lights plugged back in, but it's doable. I don't remember having that much trouble on my 07, but it's which saved me from having to buy another stubby. No pics as it was getting dark and I wanted to get my bumper back on.
