2013 Rubicon Purchase
I currently have a 2013 Sahara Unlimited with 33" duratracs and a 3" BDS lift. It's Gecko Green and I am completely in love.... Until I found out I have employee pricing this month and can get into a 2 door rubicon for the same payment. I have a few questions and I haven't really found any threads that fully answered them.
1. How will the 2door perform offroad compared to the unlimited
2. Will I be able to run 35" tires with the 4.10s/6spd/3.6l
I am on the fence about it all but by the time I add lockers, regear, and swap a d44 into the front I will have spent a ton of extra cash.

I run 35s on my 12 jkur and they work fine, and they work fine on stock gears with the manual tranny...just get a procal. You should be even better because you have less weight w/ a 2 door. I know the 2 door has a much better turn radius than a 4, but the 4 door has better break over from what I've read. I also like my 4 door because of the better towing and feeling more stable in turns, plus the extra gear I can tote along during hunting season.
Why not go for the Rubi if you don't need the extra space and it won't cost any extra? I just put 35s on my 2011 JKUR 6spd w/the weaker engine and it's fine, so you are gtg w/the 3.6. The 2 door will give you better breakover angle and tighter turning radius.

I don't know how bad car dealers are up in Canada but in the states they will say say anything to get you in to buy a car. I don't think its a good idea to buy based on monthly payment. You are going to take a few grand hit trading in a 2013 so soon. I assume you will be buying a new JK that is the same MSRP as the one you bought and you would just be trading the 4 door for the Rubicon option.
So my assumptions are:
1) the invoice price for the 2-door Rubi is pretty close to the invoice price of the 4-door sport
2) You have already made a few months worth of payments on the 4-door
My guess is your 4-door has only lost about a grand or so b/c it is technically a used car now. You have most likely already made over $1000 in payments on your last loan, and making this trade will rest your loan... i.e. you likely signed a 60 month loan and made 4 payments on it, and now you will sign another 60 month loan for the new Rubi. So eventually you when the Rubi is paid off you will have made payments for 64 months. So while it might not seem like you are losing any money in the trade, you actually will be.
We aren't talking about a lot of money here so if you want it I say go for it, but I would say just use that money to buy a winch or something instead, especially since you already spent the money on the 33's
