Default 2014 jku

Newbie question. I have a sport with rubicon suspension, wheels, tires and auto trans. Want to go to 35's. What all do I need to invest in. Would like to have a 3" lift. But not if I will have issues with having to change out stuff because it hits my transmission casing. Is a leveling kit still needed or will lift fix that? Any little things I need to be aware of? Small things to change out. Any lift kits to stay away from? Help a green horn out! Thanks in advance.

Here you go, also read "thoughts on lift", from the sticky section: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modi...17/#post211274

Thanks...How about lift kits to avoid? Don't want to think in getting a deal then it turns out to be junk.

Depends on what type of trails you hit. You don't need a lift to fit 35's if it's for street. Also what gears do you have? Go into this understanding that you sacrifice mpg and stock ride comfort.

Not worried about mpg. This will not be for street all the time. We live in the Smokies and will do quite a bit of trails. Will be more rocky than mud. Gears now are 3.73.

Read "thoughts on lifts." I think you have to account for your exhaust if you lift. Now, will you have rock rails; steel bumpers; winch? If your going to run heavy then go with springs. If light, you can just use puck spacers. The higher you go, usually +3" then the cost goes up with suspension geometry, driveshaft fixes. Don't base your lift solely on cost.

When others talk about gears, consider those that live in the same location (elevation) over those in flat lands.

Default dont forget

axles are weak so sleeves & gussets , ball joint replacements axle joints, not to mention other things that might be worth getting

a lift isnt going to get you into rocks alone ! im no expert on this but the jeeps are weak and cant take it not with out robbing you of every dime you own welcome to the land of breakbelieve

Default any hobby like this harleys very similar

they know the nitch and they make it so you give them your home or atleast they would like you to rack your credit cards up trying to get it built and lots of the stuff is junk in my view ! made with cheap china parts and top dollar , make sure you research every thing before you start even if it takes you a year or so before you hit the boulders or pot holes with the axles not like the old jeeps these are made with car parts or less quality my view

its easy to get over welmed and want to have it all . some people have the money some need to prioritize what they can do to start and build as they go , thats my advise

my bike was the same way ( take your time try and get it right ) if you dive in to fast youl buy things you wished you didnt !
