Default 24v cummins in a jk

Might have a chance of getting one from a family member at a good price.. Has anyone done this? I'm no professional but I can hold my own on most projects.. I know it will take some help, some research, and a decent chunk of money but what are everyones opinions? I'm all ears.

P.s. The motor is a very sound 24v that already has moderate mods like injectors and programer and things like that..

You need to modify the fire wall just to fit that in there!

At the minimum you would need a D60 up front to handle the weight. Might even have to extend the front of the frame that is a really big motor to fit in there. The 4BT is a tight fit so the 6BT would be a real task.

Also have to think about beefing up your entire drive train axels, shafts, new tranny, prob even a trans to handle that torque. Might even to throw at least a D60 or a 1 ton axel in the back to be able to handle that kinda power.

All an all your look at a lot of money. In the end you you basically have a jeep tub on a totally custom chassis. Just my .02

Hmmm. Well these answers bring me to my next line if thoughts.. I have a cj7 project and I was thinking about putting rock wells under it instead of what I have now.. If I did that I could put those axles under the jk. The axles currently in the cj7 is a Dana 60 front and sterling 10.5 rear out of a 2004 F-350.. (Motor for cj7 is a very built amc 360 bored and camed and all that)

Them axels would be great to put under that. That sterling is pretty much bullet proof they use that in heavy duty 1 ton trucks can't go wrong with that setup. Just the fact of dirt that big of a motor in a JK would be your issues

you may need to modify the gas tank and skid to fit the 10.5 in the rear

They chopped a dodge ram frame.and dropped the tub from the Jeep on to it if I remember correctly. They had to make a new firewall as well. The 4bt is a better option for the jk. Jeff Daniels says they build them with 250 hp and about 500 ft lbs of torque. They have a diesel swap page on their site.

It would be legit if it can be done but without severe chassis and drivetrain redesign and a Ton of cash
