Default 285 70 17 and spacers

I got a set of 285 70 17's and I have stock rims, and a leveling kit. Will I need spacers to run this set up?
I've been using the search and can't find the answer.

In the modified FAQ, there is an answer.

"Q: What is the biggest size tire I can fit on my stock Jeep JK Wrangler?
A:
The largest tire size that the factory recommends is a 255/75R17 (which comes standard on Rubicon models) or a 32x10.50. However, there are many Jeep JK Wrangler owners who are currently running as big as 285/70R17 or 33x10.50's with little to no rubbing issues.
"

However, I can say this right up... You should not have any rubbing problems under no load. You might rub on the plastic belly skidplate without spacers. The spacers will push your rims out 1.5" further and it would give you a wider stance, thereby moving the tire AWAY from the plastic underpan.

So even with the larger sway bar links there should be no turning issues?

You are right on the threshold, so it's going to depend on your tire choice. Tires with square large block and Side Bitter tread may rub, but tires with a more rounded tread shoulder won't. And even if you do rub it will probably be minimum at full turn.

You *should* be OK, but no guarantee. Some jeeps just have a mind of their own or are different just slightly enough to cause problems.

You will be walking a thin line so be prepared to do something about it, if it rubs, that's all...

It will look better with spacers, that's for sure.

I have that size with BFG KM2's and it rubbed with no lift and/or spacers added. I would recommend adding spacers or new wheels to be safe.

That's my set up. I have a 2.5" lift, 285 70 17's and 1.5" spacers. No problems.
