2WD made into a 4WD
Does anyone have some good photos of a 2WD Wrangler's front axle? Is the pumpkin there?
Do you think it is posible to buy an ATLAS transfer case with cable shifters, JE Reel HD CV driveshafts, and gears and axles for the front and have 4WD HD Wrangler for a comparible amount of money?

The 2WD's have beam up front and have no pumpkin...

...and yes, you should be able to install a new transfer case and Dana 44 or Dana 60 up front making a 2WD into a 4WD. Don't know how cost effective it would be to do unless you were going to upgrade your front axle and diff anyway.

Thanks for the pic and explaination WofL. I would think that you should be able to buy a new housing in the near future - 4WD Hardware sells them for TJs now with your choice of ratio, locker and Alloy axles.
I tried to price out a 2wd Wrangler on Jeep.com but could not find the option.
I would be curious to ad up the costs:
New Front axle with ARB/Detroit/Aussie
Alloy axles
Atlas transfer case with cable shifters
J.E. Reel driveshafts
Labor
What else major am I forgetting?

What else major... The programming for the ESP/BAS would be all wrong in a 2wd compared to the 4wd since it wouldn't know that the front wheels are driven.
The only differance it will make is that your 4WD light wont turn on... no biggy.
