3.21's and 35's
I know this topic has been rehashed to death, but just looking for insight. I just bought a '12 two door with manual transmission and now obviously I'm tire and rim hunting. I was looking at getting 33's, but everyone says I'll regret it, so now I'm considering 35's. I bought my jeep because it was a great deal and wasn't too concerned about gears at the time - think I assumed it had at least 3.73's since it was a '12. My '07 had 4.10's and was a dog with 33's, so just curious if anyone with a '12 is rolling with 3.21's and 35's and how it rides. I live in Florida, so hills don't exist which I know is a problem for a lot of guys in the upper states.

I just put 35" KM2's on my 2012 two door sport, manual and 3.21's. Hills on highway suck but 5th will maintain me at 60mph+. For you having no hills around you you'll be fine. Let me say, it is NOT an ideal set up, but you won't hate driving your jeep. I have two big hills on the highway on my way to and from work and my average dropped from 19-20 to 15.5-16, it's only been a week tho. On the flat areas I'd expect to see 17-18.5 going 65. PISSED I don't have 3.73's cuz that would do just fine on a 2012
Don't be afraid tho, it's not that bad. Lol my neighbor has been on 37's, 3.21s, and a 3.8L for almost a year now. He lives and wheels pretty damn hard too. Do it looks WAY better than 33's

Go with the 35's and get the knuckle gussets. The 3.21 gears arent that bad, you will lose the 6th gear unless you're on the highway. Plus you'll need to use a little more clutch from a stop and hold it in each gear a little longer to get up to speed. I usually shift at about 2k rpm or 3K rpm under hard acceleration and cruise at 1500 rpm.
The upside to keeping the 3.21 is the gas mileage; Im still getting about 19 and I live in a mountainous area.
I couldn't be happier with 35's.

I'm running 35 x 12.50 x 18 toyo open cnrty mts on a 2012 auto 4dr with 3.21s and I avg around 15mpg hand calculated. I also run non-ethanol gas which makes around a 1.5 mpg difference. My jeep has had the procal programmer to recalibrate everything. It's hilly where I live. It has plenty of power too. I may regear eventually if gas gets extremely high.
