Default Is 3.5" Backspacing Too Much?

Does any one have pictures of a 8"-9" wide wheel with 3.5" of backspacing? Preferably with a 12.5" wide tire mounted. I'm considering re-centering a set of 16x8.75 8 or 12 bolt Humvee wheels and the only available backspacing with pressed centers is 3.5".

technically, it would be too little but, i know what you're trying to say and no, it wouldn't be or, at least for me anyway. sure, your tires will stick out a bit but i think the wider stance is nice and offers up more stability. of course, if you live in a state where this is a problem then... you might want a bit more backspacing.

I believe the military HMMWV wheels 16.5"?? At least they were when i was in. Always had 37x12.5x16.5 BFG"S mudders, and 36x12.5x16.5 AT for the street on them. I only bring this up because it will limit your tire selection, unless you have a "friend" who can " acquire" tires for you

This is TORN's rig. These are 35s on 15" wheels. I think he has 3.5" BS and I think the tires are 13.5" wide. PM him to confirm that.

Middle.

Front.

Yes you're right, I had a brain fart and put 16 instead of 16.5. The tires I plan to run come in a 16.5" size so that won't be an issue. I'm more concerned about the backspacing of the wheels and the wheels frogging out way past the fenders.

Did you run that backspacing with stock flairs? If so, how far did they stick out?

Gotcha, its more of an aesthetic issue for me but I can see the merits of a wider stance.

Ok, another question for you guys. What backspacing would be necessary for a wheel to sit flush with the stock fender? 5"? I'm considering getting the Xenon flat fenders to keep the wheels tucked under and I am wondering if the additional 1.5" of coverage would be enough.

5" will be outside the stock flares.

I have 17x8s with 5 1/8" backspacing and they're outside the stock flares by about 1/2"

Hey you have more pictures with this setup?
I ordered the 1.5 spidertrax - I am having my tires mounted this week - same 37/13.50/17 with fuel with 4.5 BS - I also have narrow fender flares
