Default 3.73 with Nitto Trail Grapplers - weight issue?

I really like the looks and positive reviews of the nitto trail grapplers. Only real compliant I have heard is their weight. I know different gearing would be better, but would I have much issue with running a 315/70R17 D rated trail grappler on my '13 jku with 3.73 factory gearing?

I know MPG would go down, but would it be really bad and how about highway driving?

Geez, you haven't picked a tire yet?? I don't have the TG's, but I have the Duratrac's. With 3.73 these are fine, but they are 61lbs as opposed to 79lbs I believe for the TG's. That is going to be a huge jump up. I would think a re-gear is necessary. Living in Dallas, highway driving is fine with my DT's, but minor hills start to cause it to down shift. Go with a lighter tire or do a re-gear with the TG's, but I would drive with them first to see if your driving style makes them suitable. I drive mostly city so the 3.73's are sufficient and I get 14mpg (worse if I do mostly why driving).

I've got the 35x15.5x17 tg on my 13 Sahara with 3.73 and it's not bad at all. I will eventually go with 4.56 but so far been running this way for over a year with out concern. Done some pretty hairy offroading and put in 27k in a 15 months. Average mpg is 14-15. Lowest I've seen is 10 mpg towing a full trailer 400 miles in a 30 mile per hour head wind at 60-65 mph. Also the same with 8 hours offroad. Best I've seen is 19.1 mpg following other jeepers at 60-65 mph to a trail

Yea I know.....I'm being very indecisive on tires. My other option is the fierce attitude. It would be lighter and less aggressive for my daily driving but a little more aggressive than the duratracs for my off-road use. They seem to get good reviews.

I love my DT's. I will say the TG's run a little bigger than my DT's. What made my decision to stick with DT's is they are great in rain and are quiet.
