I ended up running some marvel mystery oil through a tank of gas and then running a tank of 93 octane gas and it cleared it up. I only make short trips and I idle often but I think its the gas for me. oh, I also changed my oil with 5/30 last time too but I'm not sure if that did anything. I will go to 10/30 next oil change though.

In my situation I think those questions are irrelevant. New valves were put in 2 months ago and the problem is back already this motor has issues. The new valves solved the problem for about a month so I'm guessing she carboned up again which wouldn't be normal in that span of time even if it did nothing but idle. Perhaps bad rings causing excessive oil consumption and carbon build up.

i have been dealing with this for weeks now. its driving me nuts and reading 27 posts here im about to shoot myself.. I HAVE AN 09 JK WITH A CAI 35'S MBRP EXHAUST, VIPER THROTTLE BODY AND FLASHED FOR 93 TUNE I ALWAYS RUN 93 SINCE I BOUGHT IT... I DONT KNOW WHEN I STARTED TO HEAR THIS PINGING SHIT BUT MINE DOES IT ONLY UNDER LOAD FOR ABOUT 8 MINUTES THEN ITS GONE... NO DEALER CAN HEAR IT OR MECH THEY ARE ALL DEF.. I HEAR IT ALL THE TIME.. SOME DAYS ITS WORSE THEN OTHERS... I HAVE NOT CHECKED FOR A CRACKED MANIFOLD YET THATS TOMORROWS JOB I HAVE ALSO RUN SEAFOAM IN IT STILL PINGS.... AT OF ALL THE JEEPS AND JEEP OWNERS AND MECH'S IN THE WORLD NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THIS PROBLEM IS??????? IF I DONT GET IT RESOLVED REAL SOON CUMMINS 4BT IS GOING IN! JUST FYI IT HAS 30K ON THE CLOCK.... They can give you a modified tune, but honestly, it takes away all the benefit and performance. Try doing a carbon flush to the motor. Chrysler combustion chamber cleaner, follow the directions. It may take more than one treatment. Also, change the pcv valve if you haven't done so
