Default 3.8 stroker vs 3.8 replacement engine

I recently blew the motor in my 2007 JK Unlimited. I want to increase the power (since its always been underpowered), but don't want a hemi or LS. I'm looking at 505 performance and debating between the 3.8/4.1 stroker engine or their 3.8 stock replacement. Anyone running either of these? Happy with the performance? Pros/cons?

I've been contemplating the 505 route as well; it'll be interesting to see some happy responses.

I thought about it as well. The issue I had was that the kit did not solve the programming and fuel injectors. Is there a new solution out there

I did a lot of research on the 505 setup a little over a year ago and ended up not going that direction. Read this: 3.8L Stroker - JKowners.com : Jeep Wrangler JK Forum

Thanks for the input. I've been looking at options and staying with the 3.8 in some form seems to be the simplest and least expensive upgrade. Just trying to make sure that I'm not making a decision that I'll regret.

If you do go with the stroker, please let us know how it turns out for you.

I agree, I decided that when mine goes, Ill likely get a lower mileage used motor or a rebuild and swap it. Geared properly and running a RIPP you can make plenty of power and have a reliable trouble free setup. I have 106K miles and its still running great.

Default 140K on mine, still strong.

I have 140K on my Jeep. I have towed a 2500 pound trailer all over the place, driven in 3rd gear at nearly redline for 25 minutes at a time through a muddy desert area, commuted 70 miles a day, drove home and back 200 miles in the snow from an out of town job for a year (most of it at 80) and extended oil changes out to 8000 miles a few times.

Most of the time I change the oil at 6000 with Mobile 1 synth and a K&N filter. Redline oils in all the gear cases, changed every 30 to 40K.

When I wear this engine out, or run out of chassis stuff to throw money at, I will do something for more power, but I just don't know what yet.

If I stick with the V6, the 505 internals and a Ripp sound like an awesome combo. If I went with a V8, it would be a hemi. What I would really love is a 6.1 aluminum block Hemi mated to a 6 speed. Maybe supercharge the 6.1.

I am seriously considering plunking down the coin for their long block with upgraded everything. Coupled with my prodigy turbo kit and turning up the boost to 12lbs it should be nice. The lack of online feedback about their engines concerns me though.
