Default 3" FT Premium Install Problem

I have finished my install of the 3" Premium FT lift. Although I had to modify several parts, its on. Now though, I have a knocking sound in the front end when I turn the wheel back and forth while driving (not while still). I have retightened everything and cannot seem to locate the noise.

Anyone know of any "tricks" that I can use to locate the noise on something that only happens when its rolling? Or has anyone had a similar problem that may know what is causing the knocking noise?

Any help would be appreciated.

Default i alos have issues with lift

I too am runnung the FT premium lift and had a hell of a time getting the rear track bar bracket mounted. Prob going to just get the RE rear adjustable arm. Up front though I have a dead spot in my steering and I cant figure it out. At center steer I can move the steering wheel to the left and right about an inch or more and get no movement at the wheel. Could I have a bent tie rod or worse? Help!!

I had a very similar sounding problem shortly after my install of the same kit. Turned out to be the track bar bolts. They were pretty tight, but when set to the appropriate torque spec the knocking went away....

Have you tried re-torquing everything?

It is most likely the trac bar. Did you grease it as you put the trac bar together? Do that and then tighen to a 125 ft/lbs. Same for the rear. Look at the write up for the economy kit, it has almost all torque specs on it.

Default Mine is good now

After the front end was aligned, the noise went away. I believe it was the two steering rods that are attached with knuckles to the steering. With un-aligned wheels these rods were rotating when I turned the wheel back and forth.

I am still having a problem with my strap bracket for the trackbar relocation bracket. It didn't fit right, so I will have to modify it to make it work.

Starting to get happy with the install now though (especially since it is almost complete!) I sure hope I saved a lot of money installing it myself since it was quite a big job. If not, at least I learned a lot!

Just use a Dremmel and widen that hole for the braket out. I assume that is where you are having problems?
