Shouldn't the diff fluid be changed every 15k miles? And the manual rec's to take off the covers @ 30k to inspect gears/components for abnormal wear...

Solid Axle still has their covers on sale for $65/axle (total ~$140 shipped). and you could throw in a pair of lubelockers for less than $50 from northridge4x4...great deal considering most people spend $200 on just the covers. My

the only thing i hate about the 'right stuff' is that it's so strong and holds so well that it can be a bitch to remove your diff cover if you ever need to get inside.

I peeled my stock rear diff cover back on a rock just far enough to cause a leak. I thought it was just the seal so I removed the cover, replaced the seal with a "gasket in a tube" type sealer and replaced the stock cover...still leaked.
I then replaced both front and rear with a SOLID axle industries diff cover and same "gasket in a tube" sealer and no more leak. The rear is more prone to this type of damage because the diff cover is on the trailing edge of the diff housing with nothing behind it to provide support. The front is less likely to be damaged like this (unless you drive over rocks backwards).

Lube Lockers are so nice!! No more applying the silicone and hoping you waited enough time... but not too much before putting it together. Not that it is that hard but I think they are $15 well spent.

diff covers are a must here. I had to replace my fronts when the lip of the stock caught a rock and drug back and i had a leak in the front. My rear got a real nasty dent in it and the lip of it got boogered up.

Lube lockers are awesome cause it takes a good 30 minutes out of changing them. Just dont torque your bolts to 35 pounds like they say go 33.

Are you getting the SOLID's direct from the vendor? Northridge doesn't have them listed, neither does 4WD, or Quadratec.

Totally agree with you here WOL...I still have not pulled the trigger on new diff. covers...but I have peeled back my cover 2x's now going over rocks. Still to cheap...and putting my $ into other mods.

Yes. Front page of their website has a big ol' advertisement for them (still up as of 2/10/10)
