Default 305/65/18 on stock Sahara wheel

Would I be pushing my luck going this wide on the stock rim?

Default Check with the tire company

Many tire company websites have fitment specs... which define the diameter and width ranges allowed on any given tire. Tire stores can usually reference it as well. They must follow specs to avoid lawsuits.

A lot of people are running taller/wider tires on stock rims. You won't have any issues, as long as your local shop will mount them. (some won't, since they are narrower than the mfg's recommended width). This is assuming you take care of backspacing/clearance/rubbing, of course...

I'm running 295/65 on the stock 18s with 1.5" Spidertrax and I still have rubbing at full turn.

I ran 305/65/18 BFG all terrains for 60,000km no problem. Two trips to Moab @ 7500km per trip. You'll need the Spidertrax 1.5" wheel spacers with the stock rims though.

Thanks all! I'm already running 1.5" spacers just because I like the stance and in anticipation of bigger tires eventually.

I suspect I'll have to find a smaller local shop with fewer guidelines/rules to get them mounted. I already know of at least one that I'm sure would do it, especially if I buy the tires through them.

Some of the larger chains are going to have problems with your spacers, too. It's dumb, but many times it is written policy as a result of some lawsuit, somewhere. So yeah, a smaller independent shop may be the best bet.

I have a talk with the counter guy each time when I go in so I am not wasting anyone's time. My local Discount Tire knows me by now (not sure if that's good or bad, but it helps me out a lot), and will accommodate me in most instances.

285 is the largest tire without giving you problems on stock rims, 305 get rims with more rear offset
