Default Is a "305" to big?

Here's the plan:
17inch Pintlers + 10 mm offset and 4.7 backspacing, GY MT w/kevlar...will a 305/70/17 tire rub on a 2009 JK with just a TF leveling kit.
Only get one shot at this and I don't want to go too small. Originally was going with a 285/70/17 but am second guessing.
Also any problems with 3.21 gears and a 6 speed. I f I get everything above nomodo for regear. Thanks

That size is equivalent to 33/12.50-17. Should be fine since you are putting them on the aftermarket wheels with backspacing made for the Jeep.

Yeah, fit wise you should be fine.

The biggest challenge could be the 3.21 gears, but fortunately you have the 6-spd which is a lot more forgiving.

Have the 305/70r17 on pintlers, no rubbin at all with old lift. I ran the same tires on the stock wheels and they still didnt rub. The MTR's I have are the non Kevlar

The only real challenge is when you hit bumps with no lift. If the jeep is full the tires can rub the fender flares. Had that happen a couple of times. It didn't hurt anything.

I highly recommend doing it the way you want the first time. If you have stock 32's, you will not be increasing much going with 33's. I had the same questions a month ago when deciding and many people on this site convinced me to go 35's, which I am very happy I listened to the advice. I am running a 4dr X with 3.21 gears (hope to upgrade soon) with a 2" OME lift and 35" Kevlar tires and have Zero issues with rubbing offroad. I have been at full flex and full compression with 2 adults and 2 kids in the Jeep and have not rubbed. I have not noticed too significant issue with the 3.21's either. I have had a reduction in fuel economy (went from 18 avg to about 15.5 avg), but still have enough power to maintain 65-70 on the highway even on hills (just have to be willing to down shift when necessary). In 4LO, there is plenty of power with the 3.21's so no worries there.
If you are planning to re-gear at some point in the future go with the 35's and live with the 3.21's for a while. If you have no intention to re-gear or don't want to increase height at all and just want more aggressive tires then go with the 33's.
