Default 32" tires

Hey,

Ive been wanting to put 32" tires on my reatively stock 2008 jk x auto, probably bfg ATs... I was concerned how this would affect performance and speed readings... Would it really mess things up on the highway/city or would I still see fairly similar performance? Are there any tires you guys prefer? I will be going to pharmacy school next fall where it snows a ton...

Thanks for your help!

Jim

255's or 32" tires are what come standard on a Rubicon and a lot of sahara's. you'll be fine with them but, you will want to have your speedo calibrated. an aev procal will do the job and for cheap.

I have a 2010 Sport and mine came with those tiny car tires. I put 265/75/16 Duratracs and have had no problems. I have a 6 spd with 3.21 gears and with the install of the Superchips, you would never know you had bigger tires. Even without the programmer you don't notice much of a difference.

Grab a set of take-off wheels/tires from a rubi or sahara.

Rubi's are 32" MT's on 17" rims
Sahara's are 32" AT's on 18" rims

Neither are stellar performers on snow and ice, but both can be had for cheap...

Also, you can check with your local dealerships about resetting the computer for the new tires. Some will charge, but others may do it for free. If they all charge, you're better off just getting the procal as suggested above.

I ran rubi takeoffs for 6 months and they were great, if I hadn't gotten a great deal on the procomp wheels and tires I have now I would have stayed with them.

I really like your setup I will probably do as you mentioned, I have ATX artillary black teflon rims and those duratracs would look great wrapped around them... The car tires the dealorship put on just spirals the jeep in a sad place

Thanks for all the great input from everyone!!

I'm running 265/70/17 Toyo M/T's on a 2 door with a 6 speed and 3.21's, still drives fine. Certainly a little more sluggish and a bit more downshifting on the highway for any grade change but overall quite easy to deal with. The dealer I normally go to did my reflash for tire size free. The switch from those tiny little pizza cutters is well worth it friend.
