Default 32" tires?

ok, I feel like a total newb..... my XJ has 15" rims and the tire selection has not been a major issue for me. With the 16" rims it seems that the tire sizes are way more complicated? I seem to be skipping sizes in weird steps..... 275 70 16 is just over 31" and 285 75 16 is 32.8" which while I'm not totally opposed to but since I tow a travel trailer from time to time I'd rather stick closer to 32" so, I'm looking for recommendations

I am interested in a decent tire for more exploring then rock climbing (XJ is the rock magnet). I currently have GoodYear Duratracs 245 75 16 which are OK but as their life is nearing end I'm slowly looking for other options. Oh yeah, I have a '12 JK with an Auto and 4.11's.

I'm trying to stay with stock rims BUT I'm open to changing those out. Oh yeah, AT's, little snow in winter time (I visit snow) and absolutely, positively as little mud usage as possible... I hate.... MUD

??? Stock rims are 17" on a JK unless you've got a Sahara to which 18" would come factory....

Look for a set of take-off 32" tires/rims from a sahara or rubicon?

There are a ton of them floating around out there on craigslist, many are sold dirt cheap just to get them out of the garage. This would also have the side benefit of moving you up to a 17" or 18" rim.

275 70 16 is just over 31" and 285 75 16 is 32.8"
I would also suggest a little searching for actual measured heights for various tires. You are very likely to find an inch or more difference in height and/or width for the exact same stated tire 'size' moving from one mfg to another.

I'm pretty sure the base models are 16" steel rims.
His gearing is throwing me though

Oh yeah.... I looked at the duratracs and bfg ats specs and they are close to the calculated height making me stick with those numbers as a base.

Gearing? Well... Couple long nights under the JK to go from the crappy 3.23s to something usable
