Default 33" on 20" rim Tires

When you drive 50 000 miles in 1 1/2 years, tire weight makes a difference and can easily render the most modified 3.6 pentastar impotent. Multiply the extra wheel/tire weight x 10 and that is the equivalent weight you carry around with you all the time. Each Extra 5lbs(2kgs) per tire will roughly cost you 170 gallons(650liters) of extra fuel over 50000 miles(from stock tires at 42lbs to ProComp at 82lbs it is extra 1360 gallons). Not to mention 0-60 goes becomes double digits from 7.6s So with this in mind I set out to find a replacement for my Falken Wildpeaks P285/50R20, which have 50 000mi of which 8 000mi are rocky desert offroad and still have 10k more, but winter is coming. The only complaint I had was the tires were too small and that was my mistake.

Most 33" tires out there are LT E load weighting at least 60-89lbs. Terra Grappler was in a category of one with the P305/55R20 at 48lb and the LT305/55R20 is 54.5lbs. And I had to call technical support to find that out weights, as Nitto do not even show weight on their spec sheet.

Then I discovered the Terra Grappler G2. Disappointment quickly settled in as the P305/55R20 is not even offered, and worse G2 is heavier than the equivalent old Terra Grappler! I.e. the G2 LT305/55R20 is 61lb, vs 54.5lb for the old one.

Toyo Open Country II are very light in the 31" and 32" sizes, but are very heavy in the 33". LT305/55R20 is 74lbs.

BF Goodrich shaved a lot of pounds from their new KO2, although they were starting with a heavy pig. BG Goodrich has only one 33": LT275/60R20/D which weighs impressive 54.45lbs for the amazing strength it offers.

Clearly BF Goodrich has the secret ply to make a light tire, but when are they going to offer decent size variety? Winter is coming and I need tires now. Sadly, I have to go to the old Terra Grappler.
